There's a story that relates to the history of traumatic care in the United States that emerges in Seattle. Decades back, the idea of working on patients at the accident scene, as well as emergency care treatment in hospital, were methodologies that were seen as outrageous -- even unethical; but more so, the real challenge was about a lack of insight about the nature of injury and what can be done to eradicate "emerging" crises in accident and traumatic bodily damages. The emergency trauma team -- and the follow up accelerated "emergency room" care -- was literally invented in Seattle. Girvin's role was in defining, supporting and telling that story, building the legacy in a powerful, emotionally compelling manner to reach out to the community -- and the international medical and healthcare organizations in the Northwest and internationally. Girvin wrote and produced the story, the content retold, as well as site developed and collateral.
