Lincoln Square
The Challenge
Falling into Loop Holes
The City of Bellevue approached GIRVIN to restructure the signage system for Lincoln Square, a mixed-use urban architectural property developed in a suburban neighborhood. Under their old system, to keep with the city’s and Kemper Development’s guidelines, tenants’ facades earned an allocation of signage—which led to a system of lending and borrowing, and ultimately created an imbalance of business representation.
The Solution
A Path Toward Higher Standards
Our work included primary identification, tenant identification standards, retail directories and wayfinding, and parking garage wayfinding and graphics—ultimately designing all environmental graphics for the mixed-use space. By branding the space through retail and parking signage solutions, we provided a sculptural feel to the property with an intuitive and beautiful wayfinding program. As we worked closely with the City of Bellevue, our work with Lincoln Square became used as a prototype for an update to the entire city sign code.
“
GIRVIN worked on creating the environmental signage design program for our project Lincoln Square, that appropriately supported the design spirit of our intentions in the character of our design and larger vision for the project.”
