Nirvana Haiku Book

The Challenge

Easier read than done

Long-time client Scott Oki found that his daily practice of composing haiku provided a sustaining and relaxing form of meditation. As his volume of work grew, Scott looked for ways to not only share his art, but to help others.

The Solution

The write idea

Discussions with GIRVIN designers led to the idea of producing a tabletop-sized book of 225 haiku, each poem utilizing Tim’s calligraphic hand and translated into Japanese. The resulting volume benefited Densho, Scott’s nonprofit organization that documents the testimonies of Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated during World War II.

Client Perspective
