Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii

The Challenge

From the grounds up

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii approached GIRVIN with a highly unique but dated brand identity that was sorely in need of a design revitalization. They needed a new look that better communicated the Bad Ass philosophy and story of their roots, their stubbornly high standards for providing the best Hawaiian coffee, and their commitment to spreading the aloha spirit.

The Solution

A brewtiful thing

GIRVIN’s team workshopped the brand using our BrandQuest® team-building session, leading us to create a new identity—and from there, expanding the new brand language to packaging, merchandise, and a fully rethought set of interior and environmental standards for the stores. The new Bad Ass is hard-working yet knows how to chill, and stands strong on the founding principles the company was built on.

Environments

Cafe au lei

The existing Bad Ass coffee shops, each interpreted differently by the franchisees, lacked cohesion and a unified vision. GIRVIN created a set of interior design standards covering everything including wall colors and tiles, flooring and furniture, art and full-scale wall murals, and signage and lighting. All to reflect the Bad Ass vision of welcoming every badass that walks through their doors with the authentic aloha spirit of Hawaii.

Testimonial

Your team has been the most significant accomplishment in the early development of this new company. The level of thinking, persistence and focus on an integrated solution has delivered a truly game-changing brand identity, packaging and store design.

The first “Girvin designed” store has been warmly received. It is beautiful. The numbers are holding and we have done Social Media marketing and old fashioned guerilla marketing to help introduce the community to our new brand and your design. Many customers have commented on the difference between the old and the new and definitely LOVE the “New Bad Ass Coffee”. Come and visit West Jordan,&nbspUtah!
