America’s Winemakers

The Challenge

True grit plus humor

Gary Robins—sommelier, chef, and producer—and John Jacobsen—writer and director extraordinaire—came to GIRVIN for help giving life to their vision of a gritty and humorous documentary about the history of wine in America.

The Solution

The John Wayne of wine

After reading through John’s pilot script and hearing their ideas for inspiration, we got to work creating logo that would encapsulate the historic yet playful nature of the documentary. Then we designed a pitch deck inspired by cinematic experiences, spaghetti westerns, and a dash of whimsey—thanks to the animation and illustration talents of artist Drew Christie who was also brought on board. Once the pitch deck was completed, we created a landing page in the same style, for potential investors to learn more and to view the pitch deck and pilot script.

Client Perspective

Tim, Thank you so much!
This has been one of my life’s most exciting and rewarding experiences working with you. Your kindness and generosity have touched me and helped set a solid foundation for the adventure of a lifetime.  You are an incredible man.  You are an inspiration to me.
Your team is fabulous, too—a giant shout-out to everyone who made WA-400 what it is.
As I have said, since I started trying to tell the story of the history of wine in America, I want it to become what it is supposed to be, not what I want it to be. You and your team have helped John and me reach a giant plateau in the journey.  Next stop: Hollywood!
I am very excited to see the website and then to see where the universe takes America’s Winemakers: Their Epic 400-Year Journey.
With incredible gratitude to the Givin team,”
